DENGLER FUNERAL HOME RECORDS INDEX

These original records, about 1480 entries,  span the years 1910 through 1921 and also 1941through 1945.   There were other funeral homes in Butler at the time, but these 1910-1921 records are the only known funeral home records still surviving.

Each record is on one page and contains varying amounts of information starting with the date of death.  Some contain the woman's maiden name, her husband's name and there is a time period when the parents were named.  Many records contain the person's birth date, cause of death, and place of death, while others contain only the person's name, the casket purchased, the cemetery where interred and the costs incurred.  Many infants died during this time period and are included in these records.

These indexes were compiled from the entries in the 5 volumes of the Funeral Home's records.  The handwriting is poor in some instances and we've done our best to spell the names as they are in the original records.  This work has not been proofread, so consider all possible spellings of the surnames you are researching.  G's and S's were often mistaken, as were the small letters a and o, e and i, and u, r, and n.

Copies of these records are only available through the Butler County Genealogical Society.  Click here to print and mail an order form.  Upon receipt and clearance of your check or money order, your copies will be mailed. Please allow 2 weeks for receipt of your copies.
