Step back in time to the exciting formative years of oil production in Western
Pennsylvania. We are proud to offer this reproduction of the souvenir book
developed for the 21st reunion of the Oil Men of Western Pennsylvania in 1907.
This book preserves many of the scenes, as well as incidents of those memorable
days, told by the men who had been personally involved. They enlighten and
entertain us with accounts of the men, wells and boom towns of the lower Butler
field and surrounding areas; evolution of oil well machinery; the development of
the business of drilling wells; even the old school days of Butler, PA — all
intermixed with their own fascinating experiences. Advertisements from local
businesses of the time are scattered throughout. A new every-name, business, and
international locality index has been added. Replete with illustrations and B&W
photos, this publication will spark the interest of any reader.
